Other stories to read

I found this compelling article on NY Times.  I thought it was a great way to show all the different stories of the unemployed.  The comments are actually some of the best part of the article.

In the beginning

To start the blog off here is the abbreviated version of my own story of being laid off.  I worked a fairly large architectural firm, which was having a slow down on projects starting or being awarded to our firm.  We had had two subsequent layoffs before so I thought our firm was done.  I thought I had managed to be a lucky employee.  I was about out the door when my cell phone rang and got the call from my supervisor saying he wanted to have coffee with me.  My gut dropped.  I knew it then but wanted to ignore than feeling.  I told him I had a client meeting and could meet with him afterwards.  Off I went and had a wonderful meeting with our client. Afterwards I went to the office and could not get a hold of my supervisor, I was nervous. I told my coworkers about it and told not to worry.... I knew... Ugh I totally knew!  A couple minutes later I was picked up by my supervisor and he told me my fate.  Laid off.  He told me what they all probably tell you,  its not me, its the economy.  Blah Blah.... At first I believe it I thought for sure I was a sacrifice but now... Not feeling it.  They also said maybe in September they would be able to hire me back.  That they would have enough projects to bring me back.  So in my mind I was on lacation.... (laid off with no pay vacation).
